New York - (RIP Mess): Ron Paul's elder brother the noted guitarist and prospective 2012 vice-presidential partner Les Paul has died at the age of 94.
Paul rose to fame with his 'While My Guitar Gently Veeps' Beatles lyrics predicting the 2008 White House campaign that shook the USA.
It brought the brothers within a whisker of securing the Republican nomination, subsequently snatched in a pirate highjacking bid by the McCain/Palin ticket.
Commenting on today's sad news a former campaign manager said the Paul family was full of eccentrics if not downright nutters.
Youngest brother Wayne Paul, for instance, is listed as a certified public accountant "whereas Ron on the other hand is probably certifiable."
Les's funeral takes place on Saturday.
