NEW YORK CITY, New York - The New York Post mired in major controversy has kind of apologized for that controversial chimp cartoon. But it looks like it might just be a classic case of too little too late.

The paper's subscription department reports that angry subscribers are cancelling their subscriptions at the rate of two every 17 seconds.

Subscription Director Chiffon Kapinos said that it is so bad, that she has ordered her workers to stop answering the phone.

And the newspaper's receptionist, Glynis Daytona, a veteran of 20 years service with the Post and who is fluent in 14 languages, said that she has never heard so many curse words uttered in so many different languages.

The manager of the complaint department stated that they had not received this volume of angry phone calls and emails since the day they printed the exclusive story and photo showing Cindy McCain's bikini line tattoo.

Meanwhile, a rival newspaper assistant editor sat in his Manhattan office on his $3,000 imported Italian office chair and said, "Well, I guess it looks like The New York Post may just have to end up changing its name to The New York Past."
