WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Most people were shocked when President Bush revealed the newly painted portrait of former President Clinton and it looked nothing like him (see photo).
The artist, Ben Spock, said he thought it was a spitting image of Clinton.
But Spock was the only one who saw any resemblance to Clinton in the painting. Plus, the painting was done only in black and white.
"We commissioned a color portrait," said a White House spokesman. "And we saw Mr. Spock's other works that were exquisite. His portrait of Sid Caesar is amazing, for one."
Hillary Clinton was also at the unveiling and when she saw the portrait she said it was all part of a Republican conspiracy to defame her husband.
Mr. Clinton took the incident with humor. When he spoke, he said, "This portrait looks more like the guy who served my daddy pancakes in Arkansas and you know, that very well may have been my real daddy anyways."
