When Gary Johnson was Governor of the State of New Mexico, the ecomony within the state was thriving. There was a balanced budget. There was no state debt. There was a state surplus.
Shortly after his successor, Bill Richardson took over, he increased spending, unbalanced the budget, cut the school budgets, bought a State Air Force One private jet with taxpayer money, opened a campaign office in Washington with taxpayer money, built a state debt, increased the state income tax and sales tax, spent the surplus, and ran for President.
Naturally, President Elect Barack Obama chose him to be Secretary of Commerce.
When asked why he would chose such a fiscally successful and responsible politician to handle our nation's money, Obama insider Ralph Templeton said "because Governor Bill endorsed him."
