Big Cockroach Escapes

Funny story written by Bureau

In a scene reminscince of the fifties classic, "The Cockroach What Ate Queens" people on Oak Street near the abandoned house at 311 are staying up all night even though a Neighborhood Watch group was formed this past Sunday.

At least three people spotted the creature scurrying about as it seemed to come out from under the old Haney Place abandoned three years ago due to mysterious bites on two of the kids of the family who lived there.

"I realize there's a 24-hour watch around the area but I'm still wary of lying down in my bed at night", stated a badly shaken Ruth "Ruthie" McKinney who lives just three houses away. "The whole area have cockroach traps out but the kids keep messing around with them. I told my Jerry just the other day, don't blame me if you come home with bites all over your legs and privates."

There was considerable relief Tuesday when one of the traps started shaking but when further examined by city police, it turned out to be a big rat.

After police advised the citizens to use smaller traps they went back to headquarters.

Meanwhile, it's starting to get dark and the frightened people on Oak Street, they wait and they watch.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
