John Mccain suggested recently that Jimmy Carter was really milking his disastrous White House time.
In an interview on a network television program, Mccain said that Carter likes to mention his presidency "whenever he gets a chance." Mccain added that "I thought those former stars of Star Trek were bad, but Carter has made a whole career out of having been president for a few years, and I think they were pretty bad as I remember. I know it must have been a painful time for him, but it still seems excessive."
Mccain said that Carter was attacked by a "raccoon or something" while in office, he thought, and was "really trounced by Ronald Regan" in the 1980 election. This was no easy task, since lots of people thought Regan was going to get everyone blown up if he got into office. Mccain added "When you'd rather get blown up than vote for someone, that's pretty severe."
Carter was recently spotted at a local Plains, GA IHOP restaurant. He said he was on a "fact finding" tour and also attended a meeting of the employees "to help facilitate understanding and multi-culturalism." Carter also said, while wiping blueberry sauce off his pants, that characterizations of his tenure in office as clumsy and inept were "completely unfair."
