Intercourse PA -- The Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish) will change the name of the town Intercourse after a recent discovery.
The Amish are mostly farmers and very proud of their 18th Century lifestyle and traditions. All outsiders are referred to as 'The English'.
Intercourse got its name as a trading post between the Amish and the 'English', it has nothing to do with coitus.
The Amish have always been mystified by 'English' visitors, always men, that stand around on street corners in Intercourse with their hands in their pockets. None of the Amish had any idea what the men were doing.
Recently, a Mr. Fish from Philadelphia whispered to an Amish farmer what people really think about the town's name.
The farmer was very shocked and called for a meeting with church elders in a local barn. No women were allowed, of course. The men decided to change the name immediately. The town was proud of its farming and especially the beautiful roosters it raised.
The men decided to rename the town Cock.
