Miami USA -- There was a surprise announcement today from Jeb Bush, President Bush's younger brother, that he will step up and enter the race for the GOP nomination.
In a hastily called press conference and with Henry Kissenger by his side, the younger Bush stated, "Someone needs to step up and save this country from the Hillary Monster...I mean, I look at this field of Republican candidates and realize, we don't have a hope. I know that I can beat Hillary Clinton, I just know it."
This extremely late entry into the race is unprecedented, with the first primaries just over one month away. Senator John McCain had this to say, "you've got to be kidding."
Other Candidates had the following to say about Jeb's surprise announcement:
- Guiliani : "Well, I was considering him for a running mate, but he's pretty much blown that. Good luck."
Romney : "He's even later than Fred Thompson getting into this thing."
Thompson: "He's even later than me getting into this thing."
Huckabee : "Jeb who?"
When contacted at the White House, the President seemed surprised, yet offered all his support. "I fully support Jeb, if there is anyone in this country that can keep the Bush revolution moving forward and stay the course in Iraq until the end, it's Jeb."
Jeb Bush, upon learning of his brother's endorsement, took steps to distance himself. "I unequivically reject any endorsement from the President. Please do not associate me with him."
Ouch! Take that older brother!
