Phoenix, Arizona (Kazinform, Kazakhstan Staff Writer) - The blame for two news helicopters colliding on Friday has been placed squarely on the man being chased on the ground by police, rather than pilot error.
Phoenix Police Chief, Butch "Dusty" Pudwhacker, has acknowledged that the twenty-three-year-old who led the police on an afternoon car chase will face charges for the crashed helicopters along with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of theft and one count of resisting arrest.
According to court documents, the suspect told police he does not recall stealing two trucks, ramming a police car and leading officers on a chase through the city. He claims that he woke up as police were arresting him at his friend's house. He also says that he does not remember causing the helicopters to crash.
Eyewitnesses attest that they overhead the suspect describe how he intended to make himself an irresistible target and lure two news crews into the air, then get them to crash into each other as they attempted to beat out one another to cover the "breaking news" story.
