Describing the Star Spangled Banner as imperialistic, warlike, and vindictive, the new Democratically controlled House of Representatives voted to change the national anthem to the Beatles classic All You Need Is Love.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a driving force behind the change said "I think that this will go a long way to mend our shattered image in the world. It should help us win the hearts and minds of those who currently hate us in the Middle East."
President Bush has already promised to veto the legislation, calling it "appeasement through music."
There has been no response to date from either Ringo Starr or Paul McCartney on the issue.
