(NYC) - The umpteenth annual celebration of earth day was yesterday we are informed. Earth Day, started in 1969 as an environmental celebration and a day off of school, has lingered on as a day for aging hipppies to note on their certain decline to mental and physical decay, hastening their eventual merging with, well, the earth.
A few college kids and a hippie, some tv producers and a story editor noticed the day this year. "Gore sort of preempted all the energy from it with his Oscar" said one savvy observer referring to Al Gore'a An Inconvenient Truth. Another inconvenient truth: "who give's a rat's patoot!" offered Ms. A. LeBlanc of Alexandria, Va.
