WASHINGTON, DC - Bid "adios" to some of Yosemite National Park's most ironic names.
In an extraordinary move, the National Park Service announced today that it was changing the names of The Redskin hotel, Jungle Bunny Village and other beloved park sites. The move, officials say, was forced on them by a dispute with the park's departing concessions contractor.
"We feel we have to change the names," Yosemite spokesman April Schauer said in an interview today. "With the ongoing litigation, we feel this step is necessary."
The famed Redskin hotel is slated to become The Majestic Injun Motel. Jungle Bunny Village will become Monkey Island, and the Injun Hotel will become Redskin Lodge.
