Tyrone Biggs of Trenton, NJ claims he's the only white guy in the country named "Tyrone".
"I'm the only one," said Biggs, a thirty-eight year old husband and father of two young girls. "People who learn my name before they meet me in person are pretty shocked when they actually meet me."
Biggs admitted that having a culturally incongruent name has its positives and negatives.
"It goes both ways," he said. "I hate to say it, but I realize that as I was growing up, there were probably jobs I didn't get simply because of my name."
However, Biggs' first name has in fact helped his current career as a lawyer.
"It fills a demographic," said Biggs. "Black people see 'Tyrone Biggs' on the Internet and say 'Hey, okay, there's a black person just like me,' so they come and hire me."
Biggs' wife, Jessica, admitted that when the two were dating, her parents were a little dubious until they met Tyrone in person.
"At first they didn't believe me that my boyfriend named, Tyrone, was actually white," she said, "when he first came over, though, and they met him, dad put the shotgun away."
