Azerbaijan - The tarmac outside Baku International Airport arrivals lounge looks like a bomb site this weekend following a spat between the Russian mobster's private jet and a 'high tech' hunter-killer drone operated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Reports from the Caspian Sea resort say Abramovich's $200m Boeing 767-33A/ER runabout - nicknamed 'The Bandit' for some bizarre reason - narrowly avoided crashing into a parked Karrar drone while taxiing close to the Baku runway.
The billion-dollar Iranian UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) was reportedly armed with dozens of 250 pound 'Ayatollah' bombs and two Kowsar-class torpedos when the altercation happened.
The near collision sent the Iranian drone spinning out of control as the Karrar's anti-electronic jamming system went haywire for no apparent reason.
Abramovich's jet meanwhile suffered minor bodywork scratches and a shredded tail wing as blowback from the drone's wreckage blasted through the air.
Commenting on the unexplained incident a Free Radio Tehran spokesperson said today the mysterious incident might be linked to a suspected fault in the drone's design.
"That's what happens when drones are manufactured from bogus UAS blueprints downloaded from suspicious 'Pentagon' internet sites," Kamel Al Kamel said.
