A new report published this week by the National Transportation Safety Board has advised motorcyclists that sending text messages while riding their bikes "is probably pretty dangerous" and "really should be discouraged."
While it is illegal to drive a motorcar and to text in some states, there is no such law deterring motorcyclists from texting while riding.
Some bikers, though, are angered by the report and are fearful that texting laws could soon affect them.
"While it is sometimes difficult to text, what with wearing gloves and steering the bike and and all, it is a lot easier than taking on the phone, especially while wearing a helmet," said biker Steve Cock.
"Sometimes I have to send a really important text, while riding my bike, for example, responding to jokes and typing LOL."
