Asheville North Carolina has developed an original idea for dealing with the homeless population: put them in trees.
Fed up with justified accusations of not doing anything for the city's homeless, the officers and board of directors colluded with the Sierra Club.
The Sierra Club has been a big supporter of saving trees and felt that the idea of the homeless advocates to "put a homeless person in every tree" would be a natural blending of missions.
"We're a big supporter of homeless people," said Mike Fir, Sierra Club Regional Coordinator. "What other program do you know of that is protecting the environment AND solving homelessness?"
Reports indicate that Habitat for Humanity has an interest in helping to build lodging for the homeless
