Rock and pop legend Elton John is guest editor of today's edition of UK national newspaper The Independent.
The paper focuses on AIDS around the world and features arcticles by such luminaries as former US president Bill Clinton.
There is also an interview with Elton himself by comic Jimmy Carr.
But one observer reckons the whole venture could have been improved if Elton has engaged the help of his long-time collaborator.
Says rock critic, Floyd Strumpet: "Elton really missed a trick here.
"He's no wordsmith himself - as he proved on a couple of albums in the 80's and 90's. He's a music man.
"No, he should have got Bernie Taupin in and the whole issue would have been much more poetic and reminiscent of those glory days of the early to mid-seventies - the days of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
"Then we might have enjoyed some magical words like in Your Song, Rocket Man or Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting and The Bitch Is Back.
"Don't get me wrong - the whole effort is very worthy. But the words could have been better."
