A Shaken Shuttlecock Heads For Home

Local man, Martin Shuttlecock found himself coping with a deeply distressing set of circumstances last night, and today is relaxing quietly at home, expecting to make a complete recovery, and grateful to have emerged from his ordeal relatively unscathed.

Sipping a cup of tea, Shuttlecock choked back a flood of emotion as he described having gone to work as normal, completed his shift, and been dropped off at a nearby railway station to catch the train home.

Describing the train station as a lonely place with Shetland ponies on one side and rabbits on the other, Shuttlecock related how he approached the station, and successfully crossed a footbridge in order to reach the required platform.

Purchasing a ticket from a machine located on the platform, Shuttlecock shuddered as he described how his journey descended into chaos.

"It was all going smoothly until I looked up at the electronic departure board. When I did, my heard sank and I felt almost overcome with sheer terror. The Portsmouth and Southsea train, scheduled for 19:04 wasn't expected to arrive until 19:06. A full two minutes late. Two minutes alone, on a dark deserted train station somewhere between Southampton and hell. I felt my heart pound. I just felt so vulnerable - isolated, lost and alone. A great deal can happen in a full two minutes - especially on a Godforsaken train station somewhere near Southampton. I could only pace up and down the platform, counting each step as I strove to hold on to my sanity. Eventually the train came, and I completed my journey home from work. I just sat in the chair shaking and sobbing as I sipped from a bottle of absinthe, thankful to have survived. They say there won't be any lasting psychological damage, but I'm not so sure."

More Martin Shuttlecock related madness as we get it.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
