TV weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker, who was famously caught on camera 'giving the finger' to news reader Simon McCoy in August, has been dropped as an on-screen presenter.
His bosses at Met Office say the move is just part of a move to have fewer on-screen presenters.
But insiders reckon it is the last of the fall-out from the on-screen gaffe.
A Met Office spokesman said: "To improve consistency, four or five broadcast meteorologists will be moving to behind the scenes roles as weather duty managers."
But our source in the news department told us: "There's more to this than meets the eye.
"It's well known that Simon offered Schafernaker out when he gave him the finger.
"Rumours are rife round here that they had their punch-up in a car park near the BBC TV Centre and that Simon came out on top. That's not surprising - he looks after himself and he packs a meaty punch.
"Tomasz, on the other hand, has a rep as a lover, not a fighter.
"As he got a beating, honour means that Tomasz has to bow out."
