BBC Countryfile Presenter and Strictly, surprisingly good, dancer Matt Baker has been eaten by a giant otter in what the BBC called an unprecedented accident.
The programme's producers had heard stories of a giant otter taking sheep and goats on the fringes of Exmoor, in Devon, and sent the intrepid Matt to investigate.
As he squished through a particularly soggy section of marsh, practicing his Latin steps with cameraman Mark Steer, a large shadow is seen on the film approaching the two.
We see reeds and other vegetation rushing past the camera as Mark legs it big time; on the sound track we can here Matt shouting; "Come back, don't leave me."
Mark stops and turns just in time to show the otter pull Matt's head from his shoulders and settle down to munch its way through it's lunchtime snack.
Close relatives have been informed and a remaining wellington boot and a chewed anorak have been returned to his family.
A BBC spokesman said, "We are very sad at this loss, and will be advertising for a replacement soon."
