Proposals to ban all humour gain support

A movement with significant support has emerged which has proposals for a ban on all humour.

'Life is too serious for these silly stories which no one has time to appreciate anyway' said Mildred Misery, leader of this band of warriors.

Some of her supporters want to go further seeing satire as the main enemy of mankind. 'All they do is knock, knock knock' one menber of B.A.H.(Ban Against Humour) moaned 'never a kind word, just mockery. Never a proposal to improve our unhappy world, just lampooning the worthy champions of all that is best in society.'

But a movement to resist this puritanical pressure has also appeared. 'It is no joke!' said a funny man 'laughter is good for you and pompous twits need to be exposed for the fakes that they are.'

F.I.F, (Fun is Funny) the inspiring name for the movement of people trying to be funny is finding life hard however. Paid members of the public are going to the laughter shows and maintaining a stony silence. People are being encouraged to boo if a comic undermines the stature of anyone with stature (however tall or short). The curtain has been rung down on many a funny show in silence as the few people remaining sob and wail.

Who is behind the conspiracy to ban humour? The search is on for the secret funders of BAH who are running rings around FIF at the moment. As one comic trying to cheer herself up observed: 'There is so much Bahing going on we shall all be sheep very soon.'

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
