The new UK government is planning a £300 billion upgrade to CCTV cameras in the capital. The plan is to scrap all the current cameras (currently around 600,000) and replace them with one giant camera which hovers 300 feet above the city.
'Using satellites is not practical because of practicalities, so we are installing one huge camera which sits between the city and the sky, like a giant recording microscope.' Said Ted Aciuous, the Minister for Privacy Monitoring.
Local environmentalists have raised concerns about the camera blocking out the sun, but Mr. Aciuous says that a built in Ultra Violet lamp will simulate sunlight in the capital, and is a 'small price to pay for the safety and peace of mind the eye in the sky will provide.'
