Popular children's character, Noddy, was involved in a fatal car crash this morning. His passenger and life long friend, Big Ears, was pronounced dead on the scene; whilst Noddy himself has been taken to Toy Town hospital and remains in critical condition.
Local policeman, PC Plod was first on the scene.
"From what we can gather," Plod told reporters, "Noddy was driving his Toy O'Car along the road when his accelerator peddle became jammed. Additionally, he then discovered that his breaks no longer worked, due to the kinetic reclamation system failing. This is a known problem on Toy O'Cars and is the subject of a recall. Ironically, Noddy was on his way to the garage because of this recall."
PC Plod spoke with a tear in his eye as he continued.
"Aware that he had a problem, Noddy phoned the police station from his car whilst hurtling along the road, and it was at this point that he lost control of the vehicle whilst describing the problem, and attempting to avoid Gobbo the Goblin who had stepped out on a zebra crossing.
"So it is with great regret that if Noddy should survive, I will have to arrest him for driving whilst using a mobile phone."
