It has finally happened on this date, the last remaining private sector employee was made redundant from the only privately owned company left in the country.

Hengist Excaliber Stickleback, owner operator and only employee of Stickleback Productions, an itinerant Punch and Judy demonstrator was forced to let himself go today.

In a press release he stated: "It is with regret that I must close my company. My tax bill for next year is estimated at 1.65 trillion pounds. On my best year I only made £176.94 a week, I tried to continue on but charging people 35 billion pounds for a children's birthday party just never got any response."

A government spokesperson said: "It is only fair that the private sector shoulder a reasonable burden of the counties tax needs. The fact that Mr Stickleback is the only remaining tax payer is no excuse for this blatant tax avoidance scheme."

The government has announced that a special department will be set up to examine the events of today. The SIS or Stickleback Investigation Section will be drawn from the unemployed and will have 894,724 employees. Subsequent to this they claim that the unemployment rate has dropped to one person only and the government has created 32 million public sector jobs in the last year alone.

The SIS has already produced results as after extensive research it has been revealed that Stickleback is residing in a 1973 Volkswagen camper valued at £279. This will be seized under the Anti-terrorist laws and added to the public purse.

It is further estimated using holistic matrix that a further £00.72 may be down the back of Sticklebacks sofa which will also be retrieved for the public good.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
