An experienced stunt pilot has narrowly escaped death as his plane crashed in a field at the Redcliffe airshow.
An MaD spokesman said the jet crashed just 200 yards from crowds at about 1140 BST.
Onlookers described the horror they witnessed as the plane appeared to fall from the sky.
One onlooker said: "At first I thought it was part of the display - the plane dipped suddenly, but it didn't stop. I soon realised there was something seriously wrong."
Amazingly, the pilot managed to steer the jet away from the spectators' viewing area, before ejaculating from his plane.
The pilot escaped with only minor injuries, and has received a commendation for his heroic actions.
Redcliffe airshow coordinator, Ron Morris said "He's an inspiration. He demonstrated his outstanding level of skill, and averted a major disaster."
