A speech delivered by Barack Obama at an Ivy League University has led many to suspect that John Cleese has been hired as his speechwriter.
Earlier this month, Cleese said in an interview with the Western Daily Press that he would offer his services if Obama wins the Democratic nomination for the presidential election.
However, the speech at Harvard University had pundits wondering if he had already taken up the post.
Obama told the audience that George W. Bush has already overstayed his welcome in the Oval Office: "This president is no more! He has ceased to be! He has expired and gone to meet his maker. He is a stiff. Bereft of life, he rests in peace. If the Republican party had not nailed him to the perch he would be pushing up the daisies."
"His metabolic processes are now history. He is off the twig. He has kicked the bucket, he has shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible."
The crowd were moved to a standing ovation as he declared: "This is an ex-President."
