Court of Appeal, London - (Stitch-Up Mess): Barry George has told an Appeal Court judge that Crimebotch presenters framed him for Jill Dando's death "because the show would have bombed if that Nick Ross had been collared," according to evidence heard today.
George is appealing for the second time and says London cops smeared his clothing with a spent firework to prove he had incriminating gunpowder residue "just like the real killer would have".
He wants Crimebotch presenters Ross and Fiona Bruce to account for their whereabouts on 26 April 1999 and says the program's studio bosses ran a turf-war among presenters "who found out too much stuff about Cherie's coke-dealing past etc."
"My client has been framed and the assasin's accomplices now strut the corridors of power in Whitehole," George's QC said today.
"Why, in a few years time who knows? Maybe they'll even get to form a cabinet, become Prime Monster, or Foreign Secretary?"
The trial continues.
