Portuguese sources today dismissed reports that it will take weeks for the instructive judge in the case to read the massive dossier submitted to him in the Madeleine McCann matter.
"The judge will be done before his siesta this Friday," said the source. "I know this because we are alumni of the same speed reading instruction at fine institution in Earls Court, above the letting agency next door to the bookmaker."
The source also said the judge was able to make progress at pace because of economies of translation between English and Portuguese.
"For example, when an English says 'No', in Portuguese that always means 'I am guilty and confess to everything.' When an English says 'I don't understand your question, would you kindly repeat it?', in Portuguese that means 'Yes, I did it.' These convenient truths mean justice will be reached faster than a policeman can say 'I never thought of that'."
