In response the eating of a Corgi dog, which was itself a reaction to Prince Phillip killing a fox, Queen Elizabeth II has entered the fray by publicly eating a rat.
The incident occurred in Buckingham Palace and was broadcast on the British television and on the American sports channel ESPN.
"I intend to show how utterly ridiculous the criticism of Phillip has been", the Queen said, just before taking a bite of the rodent, which had been slow roasted over an open flame. "Ah, tastes rather like chicken", the Queen quipped as she finished the first bite.
After a few more bites, the Queen declared that the rat "tastes better than the bland boiled opossum that they served at the White House a couple of weeks ago."
A representative from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) demanded that Queen Elizabeth abdicate immediately.
