In a shock announcement the Government has announced that the Queen is to be privatised. 'With any luck' said Prime Minister Cameroon 'there will be enough money from the sale to help us win the next election.'
There has been no immediate response from the Palace, but already feelers have been to put out to several German firms who are thought to be showing an interest.
Cameroon explained that in difficult times it was important to sell off any assets that would help him get a working majority at the next election. 'After all' he reminded a packed House of Commons 'the Queen is descended from Immigrants. She should go back home!'
One Tory backbencher, however, asked if the Queen would be replaced by anyone else as Head of State. 'Of course' replied Cameroon to cheers 'I will be taking over forthwith.'
After quick consultations Ed Miliband welcomed the move on behalf of the Opposition. 'If the Tories think it is a good idea and the media are for it, then I'm going to display my strength by agreeing with it' he declared.
Members of the Royal Family are planning a soap opera entitled 'That Was The Royal Family, That Was!' with scripts written by the person formerly known as Prince Charles, which cannot be released before the programmes go on air as they might cause problems for him.
