India supporters were celebrating this evening after their side came through the first day of the final test at the Oval relatively unscathed.
England, newly crowned as the best test side in the world, are bidding for a 4-0 series whitewash against their predecessors as cricket's top dogs.
Skipper Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat. He and his opening partner were untroubled by the toothless Indian attack and took England to 75-0 at lunch, when the heavens opened. The umpires had no option but to abandon the day's play at 5pm.
Which sparked wild celebrations among the local Indian supporters.
Mr Patel, in the petrol station, said: "Brilliant. India are on the way back!
"We've been under the cosh in all the previous tests and haven't been able to compete. England have won just about every session.
"But today... well, the morning was England's, but afternoon and evening have been drawn. That's a huge morale boost and we haven't let England get away.
"Watch out England!"
