Rochdale Hornets yesterday were in chaos following news that they may be entering their second administration in as many years.
It is not the money side of it the club are worried about though, its what they should call themselves once they have pulled the wool over the Rugby League's eyes, stiffed everyone for their money and open up as usual the following Monday as if nothings happenend.
The original 'Rochdale Hornets Rugby League Ltd' went into administration in 2009, after the taxman wised up and asked for the £50k they owed. Once that 'crashed and burnt' they then reopened the following week as 'Rochdale Hornets Rugby Football League Club Society' (how long a scarf do you need for that?) but have dropped Rochdale from their title for league purposes.
If Hornets were to enter a second time it would give the next incumbents a monumental headache when renaming the new club. Rumours were abound that the new club would not be able to even use 'Hornets'. What their next name is will be anyones guess. Club spokesman yesterday commented 'We really are running out of options. After the last two names, we dropped 'Rochdale' from our name, I think 'Hornets' maybe a gonner next'.
A 'think tank' has be hastily arranged to come up with ideas to replace the current name, with many suggestions raised for discussion. We hear the early favourite with many ex-Hornet fans is -
As usual the spoof will keep you informed, unlike the current Hornets board who will treat their fans like mushrooms, keep them in the dark and feed them s****.
