Former Burnley manager Owen Coyle today revealed the real reason behind his move from Burnley to Bolton Wanderers - He wanted to get closer to his comedy idol, Peter Kay.
Coyle also revealed that he turned down a summer move to Celtic because it would have been too far away from the creator of 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Max And Paddy's Road To Nowhere.'
"Owen's a massive Peter Kay fan," pundit Mark Lawrenson told me. "So it's just a natural progression in his managerial career to grasp the opportunity to work in his comedy idol's home town."
We spoke to Peter Kay regarding this development, and he told me:
"It's all a bit embarrassing really, because I'm not that big a football fan. But it seems like Owen Coyle is deadly serious about the Bolton Wanderers job. He's certainly not messing about. He's not playing games."
Meanwhile, back in Burnley, disgruntled Clarets fans had to content themselves with writing 'Judas' all over the town in magic marker.
Scottish comedian Billy Connolly remains the bookies favourite to take over at Turf Moor.
More fun and games as I make it up!
