NEW YORK CITY - Jets coach Rex Ryan stated that the Jets will be without two of their running backs when they pull into Foxborough, Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots.
He was asked by Rufus Reno with Sports Balls Illustrated Daily about the rumor that he could possibly use quarterback Tim Tebow (#15) as a running back.
Ryan smiled, raised his eyebrows, and responded by saying that the rumor is no longer a rumor as that is exactly what he has in mind.
Coach Ryan pointed out that Tebow stands 6-foot-3-inches tall and weighs 236 pounds so he is a big boy who can plow through some defensive lines including the Pats.
When Tebow was asked what he thought about his coach's idea of him playing running back, the 25-year-old Tebow grinned, popped a Tic Tac in his mouth, and said that it sounds good to him.
He pointed out that he is Mark Sanchez's back up quarterback but he knows that if he has to he can play any position including kicker, punter, kick off return specialist, and even defensive tackle.
He expressed a desire to do whatever it takes to help the Jets win against the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots.
There are unconfirmed reports that on several occasions Tebow has actually driven the Jets team bus from the stadium to the airport.
Fellow teammate D'Brickashaw Ferguson (#60) said that Timmy is such a devoted and highly spirited player that he has even helped mix the Gatorade in the big Gatorade water coolers before several games.
A Friendly Reminder. October 26, is National Waffles Day except in Montana where butter was banned in 2007.
