Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, authors of countless books on Intelligent Design and continually on the lecture and interview circuit propounding evidence for the reality of an intelligent designer behind life on Earth have admitted that they have been covering evidence that shows their intelligent designer lacked basic design understanding.
They showed a lack of basic research by agreeing to appear on Jeremy Paxman's chat show, when they would have been better on Alan Titchmarsh's chat show.
"Titchmarsh would have given them an easier ride," said Richard Dawkins, who was very pleased the pair appeared on Paxman. "If they'd watched a couple of Paxman's shows before agreeing to appear on it, they'd never have come to the UK."
It is thought that the appearance by the pair on Paxman has set back the advancement of ID (as Intelligent Design is known) in the UK (as the United Kingdom is known) more than any other set back, and there have been a lot.
"Paxman asked them some awkward questions," said Dawkins. "He's good at that."
Despite being the two main spokespeople for ID for over twenty years, neither could convincingly answer basic questions, such as "Why is the trachea in front of the oesophagus when any engineer can see it would make more sense to swap them over, it would reduce choking incidents, and protect the important breathing tube."
Questions continued covering a wide array of awkward questions from asking why the designer didn't increase the number of vertebrae in giraffe neck, and why cetaceans still have lungs (neither knew what cetaceans were). After asking why the retina is behind the nerves instead of in front it, the pair admitted that in all their books, they carefully sidestepped anything that would indicate pure blind chance was behind speciation.
"The pair spent the entire interview saying 'Um'" laughed Dawkins.
The pair have since retreated behind closed doors to write a new book entitled "The mistakes made by the intelligent designer" and were unavailable for comment until they have some answers.
