Mount Palomar, California (IP) - Astronomer Dr. Povenmire Finootch has discovered a new comet under the Pacific Ocean. The comet has been named Comet Finootch 0607.
The comet appears to have entered the Pacific Ocean near the Panama Canal and then headed west until it reached Baja California and made a turn to the north.
The comet is visible to the naked eye to observers who know where to look right after sunset.
Comet Finootch shines at a magnitude of negative 4.7 which is about the same brightness as the planet Venus.
Whales seem to enjoy travelling along side the new comet and sixteen whales were seen by whale watchers travelling along side the comet as the comet came close to shore one evening this month.
