The Beatles stopped at 64, but if you go further the next mile post is 74.

At least it is for me because there is not much else to shout about. I mean, to have lived to 74 is some sort of achievement. I've had to remain alive and be getting enough money to at least feed myself.

But then the next achievement. Married for yonks - could be a bit dull and tedious but it is something!

Now I'm an expert. In all aspects of the National Health Service. Further I have developed a sure approach to life.

I've tried it. I have said to my wife: 'I was wrong. I made a mistake'. 'Sure' she says 'but you don't mean it' or she claims I'm being sarcastic.

But I tell her: 'I mean it most sincerely, dear'. But that was Hughie Green's phrase and everyone knows what an insincere shit he was.

Another claim to fame is my knowledge of day time TV. There's Countdown with the lovely Rachel Riley - so cruelly voted out of Strictly Come Dancing. Then, my latest obsession Tipping Point, bringing back all my memories of going to the Fair in my childhood. Finally Pointless where seeing Parliamentary Questions has given me quite a few good answers. I even sometimes get a Pointless answer.

I wouldn't claim life begins at 74 but it ain't half bad.
