Do NOT use Jam/Jelly

In this short series of recipes we will teach readers how to prepare snacks, lunches and even 5 course dinners quickly and easily. Today we begin with the toasted cheese sandwich.

1. It is important before you even consider preparing this dish that you seek out the best cheese for the job. I have often felt that not enough importance is placed on cheese selection. I would recommend maybe 3 or 4 hours of research on the internet and then maybe a visit to your local grocery store. Discuss your toasted sandwich with a suitable grocery employee. Ask for his expert opinion on what cheese fits the occasion. I spent several days researching cheeses and spoke to several grocers before I eventually decided on individually wrapped cheese slices.

2. Bread selection is also important. I consider that for a quick and easy snack in a rush it is best to call around local bakerys. Not far from my house (39 miles away) is a very good baker. I took the time to take two buses to see him to ask for his advice. He wasn't there when I arrived but the trip was worth it because on the way home I picked up some very good bread from the supermarket. White, sliced and the cheapest.

3. Now you have your basic ingredients it is important that you utilize the equipment you have at home. Some say the quickest method of making a toasted sandwich is to purchase a specifically designed machine, specifically designed to make toasted sandwiches. An easier and more economical way of preparing your quick and convenient feast would be to simply place the bread and cheese on top of your water boiler. The heat generated from the boiler would melt the cheese and toast the bread. In 4 days your snack would be prepared.
