The winner of the 'Sarcastic Political Ode' for May 2011, in the 'Inchcock Gazette' of 'Upper Denture, and surrounding areas' magazine, is F. Eddupofthem, with his first entry into the competition. He was to attend the magazines monthly prize-giving to collect his prize of a damaged toothbrush, but had to decline due to his attendance being required in court on a charge of 'Knowingly Voting for the Lib-Dems'
Here is the winning entry:
The fiddles, the profit, and the hullabaloo,
The personal fortunes that they all accrue,
The job requires being brazen, but little IQ,
Nepotism, they are allowed to pursue.
They get the chance to lie, steal, and preach,
Then have another break on a Honolulu beach,
Fiddle expenses, of the law they're out of reach,
Banking and investments their kids they can teach.
Free holidays, back-handers, and bribes they devour,
From justice, fairness and compassion they cower,
Bribes and inducements give their finances such power,
Enjoy lying about oil, weapons, and nuclear power.
To Brussels dictators, they can and do kowtow,
Get away with dishonesty and lying somehow,
Give no thoughts to the poor, sick, or voters now,
Act superior, superior, better, knowledgeable and how!
Privately educated, but with little common sense,
They pay no attention to problems, but their own ambience,
Ensuring above all, their own financial affluence,
They all retire richer, that's not a coincidence!
