It was a memo that no one expected to be leaked. It was a study by the Republican National Committee, labeled strictly confidential and entitled: Tea Party GOP; The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

The memo was leaked by an unknown source to MSNBC. Starting with comments made by Collin Powell regarding the Iraq war, it stated the Pottery Barn principle: "If you break it, you own it!"

Its initial conclusion was that the Tea Party had taken over the Grand Old Party and had totally broken it.

Part of the memo reads:

"Many members of the GOP from the past must be turning over in their graves at this time. Eisenhower, Rockefeller, Javits, and even Barry Goldwater would be considered lefty, pinko, commie perverts in today's GOP. God forbid Abe Lincoln ever finds out the civil war still lives on in the hearts and minds of rednecks, hillbillies, and those who's IQ doesn't exceed their average body temperature."

The memo continues stating that there "is no going back", and quotes part of a Wikipedia description of the 1950' movie, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers:

"The Body Snatchers is a 1955 science fiction novel by Jack Finney, originally serialized in Colliers Magazine in 1954, which describes the town of Mill Valley being invaded by seeds that have drifted to Earth from space. The seeds replace sleeping people with perfect physical duplicates grown from plantlike pods, while their human victims turn to dust. The duplicates live only five years, and they cannot sexually reproduce; consequently, if unstopped, they will quickly turn Earth into a dead planet and move on to the next world."

The memo concludes:

"For those of you who still carry in your heart the spirit of the Grand Old Party of the days past, we will meet in Tampa in 2012 just outside the convention center in a phone booth."

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
