I resent the phrase, "we're pregnant."

It's like, "We're going to the Super Bowl." Indeed, not: Those who put the uniform and suffer the injuries are the ones who go to the championship game.

While we can root them on, and congratulate them on a great win, we are merely invested lookers-on. The father's role in conception is vital, of course, but the process of embryogenesis is one that we watch from the stands.

What I don't hear enough of is, "we're raising our children." This is a process that we can share equally, even if our roles are quite different.

To torture the football analogy even more, my wife and I are the offensive and defensive coordinators of our daughters' lives. Our roles are different, but equally important.

I'd never say that we were pregnant, but I look forward to being able to say we raised three young girls who became respectable members of society.

That's our Super Bowl win.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
