Pop singer Beyonce Knowles has made an astonishing claim that she is pregnant, after months of speculation that she might be overweight.
The R&B star, 29, used her hands to frame, what she called, her "baby bump" under a loose-fitting dress as she arrived at the MTV Music Video Awards in Los Angeles.
Beyonce did not talk to media but her publicist later made a statement which, he said, confirmed the pregnancy.
If true, and rumours of gorging are unfounded, it will be the first child for Beyonce and her husband rapper Jay-Z, who married in 2008.
Beyonce was at the awards competing for the MTV Best Female Video Award for Run the World (Girls). She also sang, and ate a gigantic steak with chips.
Beyonce's other hits include Beautiful Liar and Single Ladies. She has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, and regularly eats snacks before bedtime, which is the worst thing you can do if you are overweight.
