Triumphant Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond has been tipped to make his debut on the West End stage in a new production of "Alice In Wonderland".
After seeing his party make major gains in the Scottish elections to such an extent that a referendum on independence is already back on the agenda, Salmond has been wearing a massive grin that could well remain fixed for years to come.
Television producer and media mogul Simon Cowell sees the SNP leader as the ideal person to play the Cheshire Cat in his production of the Lewis Carroll classic recently brought to the big screen by Tim Burton.
Cowell said earlier today :
"Mr Salmond is my first choice for the Cheshire Cat and I will be commencing negotiations with the First Minister this very day.
Production of the musical will be taking place over the coming months and I don't anticipate Alex's grin disappearing in that time.
In fact, I think it may be here to stay".
