After several days of tabloid speculation, ITV have confirmed today that they have parted company with presenter Vernon Kay. An ITV statement read, "With immediate effect, ITV and Vernon Kay will be parting company".
A source who wishes to remain unnamed has revealed, "The directors discussed his position and concluded that essentially all Vernon does is wear suits, and he was therefore the logical choice when cuts needed to be made".
Kay 36, was spotted this morning walking his dog and onlookers described him as a shadow of the man who was recently photographed playing 'cowboys and indians' in Greenwich park with ex-Eastender Asif Malik and Big Bro fav Ahmed Aghil.
It is widely expected that the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and all of the digital channels will opt not to 'sign up' Kay. A top Sky exec told reporters, "We figured out that all he does is wear suits, ages ago, Why would we want him?". Another unnamed tv chief simply said, "Cretin, I hate him".
It is not yet known who will replace Vernon on Family Fortunes, but ITV are said to be 'unfazed' and have confirmed that they will sort something out soon.
