Legendary guitar manufacturer Gibson has been slammed by guitarists for its plans to release a John Lennon "signature" model.
Asked by Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, to mark his 70th birthday, Gibson plan to release a limited number of specially-built J-160E's - his favoured guitar. They will sell at between $4,700 and $15,000."
But the prices have been slammed by guitarists.
Said a spokesman for the International Society of Guitarists and Bass Players: "This is an insult. Oh yes, those prices are very Working Class Hero, aren't they?
"Oh, sure, 'imagine no possessions'... 'Power to the people, right on.'
"Who can afford these prices? This is a real tribute to the man, I don't think!"
