Writers for the Spoof take heart. A major source of weird and comedic stories for morning radio shows, major late-night talk shows, including "The Tonight Show" and even "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," has shuttered its doors.
FlashNews is no longer a threat in the highly competitive world of comedic material. This means that those shows are going to be looking for material elsewhere.
FlashNews did what Spoof writers are doing, i.e. track down wacky stories and put a wackier spin on them to appeal to all audiences. The producer of one show says he'll miss the 10 or so feeds supplied to him by FlashNews every day. He had a system where he could take any story, inject Britney Spears into it, and it would become the story of the day. Colonel Juan take heart, Cheryl Cole may be your ticket out of poverty if, in fact, you need her to be.
So sharpen up those pencils, train your eyes on the local news, and keep those phone lines open because they are going to start calling and when they do, I want to be able to say "I knew them when."
