So, now we know who he is, the News Raider - that fat bloke who keeps popping up in the background on TV news reports. It seems his name is Paul Yarrow, and he's a carer, and for some obscure reason, he says he keeps popping up in the background on news reports because he's making a stand for fat blokes who like woolly jumpers.
So far, he has limited his appearances to London based news reports, but TV bosses are concerned that he'll take his activities on the road and start popping up in the most unlikely places, such as the White House, the European Parliament, Sydney Harbour Bridge and top flight football matches.
Producers are concerned that the public will stop paying attention to the actual news, and start playing 'Spot The News Raider' - which would be a bit like looking for Wally in the 'Where's Wally?' books.
"I think he's on a winner," a member of the public told our man. "It's going to be a lot more fun looking for the fat bloke than actually listening to the news reporters. They could sell tickets for it and offer prizes like a speedboat or a motorhome like they used to do on BullsEye. Mind you - nobody ever seemed to win the big prizes on that show. I seem to remember Jim Bowen always saying:- 'Let's have a look at what yer coulda won..." The news raider would be a lot more fun than that crap ever was."
More as we get it.
