Armed police and special forces swooped on the wedding ceremony of Katie Price and Alex Reid yesterday, following speculation that Osama bin Laden had been invited to the event.
The blessing between Price and cage-fighter, Reid, took place at St. Pauls Church, Woldingham, Surrey. The tight security surrounding the event fuelled rumours that the Al Qaeda leader, bin Laden was to be amongst the guests.
Guests were asked to hand in their mobile phones and cameras on arrival and those that refused were asked to leave. Price's long-term pal Julie Coates, her husband and another guest were ejected from the ceremony by bouncers. Apparently they had raised objections about being placed on the same table as bin Laden.
Price (32), was understandably upset by the commotion. Whilst many invited celebrities had declined their invitations to the ceremony, including Davina McCall, Holly Willoughby, Steven Gerrard and wife Alex Curran, Price insisted that Osama bin Laden had not been invited to the ceremony.
A spokesman for Osama bin Laden rejected this and confirmed that an invitation was indeed received. The invitation was rejected for two reasons, he said, 'one was clearly a question of faith, two, he simply can't stand the woman.'
