Pope Benedict XVI has approved the movie, "The Blues Brothers" and recommended it to all Catholics, following a thirty-year study.
The Pope himself made the announcement this morning and proceeded to do a moonwalk during Aretha's "Think About It" number at the cafe scene.
"These two men said they were on a religious mission to raise funds for the orphanage in which they grew up", stated the Pope. "They were raised by nuns and the reference to 'the penguin' doesn't bother an old funkster like me. Used to call them that myself. Just check the shape of these big knuckles where they rapped them so hard."
So on the 30th anniversary of the film's release, "L'Osservatore Romano," the Vatican's official newspaper, called the film a "Catholic classic" right up there with the old Mickey Roonie classics and said that it should be recommended viewing for Catholics everywhere.
"There's been too much in the news about Priests and choirboys and that old chestnut about priests marrying. Forget all that, you priests quit watching "Where The Boys Are" and "The Boys In The Band" and turn on "The Blues Brothers! And if you're gay, you must like to laugh. There are plenty of things to laugh about in this movie."
"Turn Aretha up, Bishop! Whoa...h e r e I g o! 'Think! Think about it, what you're trying to do to me! Oohhhh Freedom!!"
