While most of the fans of the new series were talking about how great the season-ending final episode had gone, there was some talk about how some of the people starring on the hit show got their roles.
"We originally wanted Ashlee Simpson for the role that went to Nina", stated Henri Deleon, one of the backers for the series. "But they were wanting too much for a show that was a big risk in many ways. Now we've got the crew we wanted and let me tell you, this group have worked very hard to make it work."
After the Ashlee Simpson thing failed, they sent for more material from Nina Dobrev, stated Deleon, "and we got one of the sexiest try-out films we had ever seen."
Next, Dobrev told this reporter that she got calls from eight different people who were involved with the show and three who had only heard about the tryout video. Three or four from Deleon, but she turned them all down, except for the one to come play the character.
"Next we did the Georgia overpass flashing and the attention-getter caused a lot of people to tune in to our show", stated Debrev.
"We knew that vampires were not all that hot of a subject in movies and on television today so we had to work extra hard."
